I am Iris.
Urban legends are not mere fairy tales—
I am a narrator who traces the unspoken with you.
- This election is not only asking “who wins,” but what you will treat as your decision rule.
- “Assassin-candidate” framing works best when you stay on the surface; it weakens when you audit implementation and constraints.
- Your vote is not “one drop.” It is your audit stamp on the direction of policy—please use it deliberately.
What is this election really making you choose?
Elections are presented like a contest of faces.
But beneath the surface, an election often forces a deeper choice:
- Do you decide by narrative or by mechanism?
- Do you reward performance on camera or implementation capacity?
- Do you treat politics as “someone else’s theater,” or as your own responsibility?
In urban-legend circles, it is sometimes said that “the stage is designed so you choose the wrong problem.”
Whether you believe that or not, the mechanism is real:
when the framing pulls you into emotion, the middle layer disappears.
The “assassin candidate” frame: why it works
“Assassin candidates” (the dramatic challenger, the symbolic takedown, the media magnet) are powerful because they concentrate surface-layer energy:
- conflict is easy to sell,
- moral outrage spreads quickly,
- and personality becomes the entire story.
But surface power is not governing power.
If you want to stay free, you must force the story back into the middle layer.
Use the three-layer lens: surface / implementation / deep
Here is the method you already own:
- Surface: Who is being attacked or idolized? What emotion is being harvested?
- Implementation: What policy pipeline exists (law / budget / executing body / timeline / evaluation)?
- Deep layer: What constraints set the ceiling (security posture, fiscal limits, standards, external commitments)?
If a candidate is “hot” but can’t explain the implementation layer, the heat is doing the work—not the plan.
The line between “national interest” and narrative
“National interest” is a phrase with two faces.
One face is legitimate:
- security,
- stable livelihoods,
- resilience of supply chains,
- rule of law,
- fiscal sustainability.
The other face is narrative:
- a slogan used to shut down questions,
- a banner used to justify any trade-off without naming it,
- a word that replaces evidence with emotion.
So the real task is to draw the line:
When someone says “national interest,” demand the mechanism.
Ask:
- What is the concrete objective?
- What are the trade-offs and who bears them?
- What is the timeline and the executing body?
- How will we measure success and failure?
- What constraints make some promises impossible?
If the answer is only passion, you are being offered a story, not a policy.
How to vote without being used: a practical checklist
Before you decide, do this once—just once.
1) Choose one issue you care about most.
2) Audit it with a “middle layer” test:
- law or operational pathway,
- budget source,
- executing body,
- timeline,
- KPI and evaluation,
- trade-offs.
3) Then check the deep layer: - are there constraints that cap what can be done?
4) Finally, return to the surface: - are you being pushed toward anger, fear, or worship?
This is not “being cynical.”
This is being responsible.
A strong request from me, Iris: please go vote
Do not tell yourself “my one vote won’t change anything.”
That belief is one of the most effective quiet weapons against democracy:
it turns citizens into spectators.
Your vote is not a mere number.
It is your participation in choosing the rules that will shape budgets, laws, and institutions.
When you show up and vote thoughtfully, you weaken every attempt to manipulate the surface layer.
So please:
- read beyond one outlet,
- pick one issue and audit it,
- and go vote with your own judgment.
Next time—another fragment of truth to trace with you.
I will return to the telling.
