THE SEMICONDUCTOR WAR:US Strategy & Chinese Threats to TSMC

I am Iris.
Urban legends are never “just stories”—
they are fragments of truth waiting to be uncovered with you.

THE SEMICONDUCTOR WAR:

Why TSMC Determines the Future of Global Security

TSMC is not simply a manufacturer.
It is the single point of failure in the world’s most critical industry: advanced semiconductors.

More than 90% of cutting-edge chips—the brains of iPhones, AI servers, autonomous vehicles, defense systems, and global finance—depend on one location:

Taiwan.

This concentration is so extreme that the stability of the modern world now hinges on a single island in the Western Pacific.
If Taiwan falters, global civilization experiences an immediate shock.

TSMC as the World’s Most Fragile “Single Point of Dependency”

Unlike oil, food, or rare minerals, leading-edge semiconductors cannot be quickly replaced.
TSMC’s 3nm and 5nm processes are years ahead of global competitors.

If a Taiwan crisis erupts, the first few days would trigger:

  • Shutdown of smartphone, PC, and server chip supply
  • Collapse of AI GPU production
  • Severe slowdown in automobile manufacturing
  • Market panic and rapid financial instability
  • Disruptions in medical, communication, and defense infrastructure

The 1970s oil shock would look small by comparison.
Today’s society is built not on petroleum—but on silicon.

Why the United States Must “Defend TSMC at All Costs”

To the United States, Taiwan is not only about democracy or geopolitics.
It is a battle for technological supremacy.

Washington’s strategy makes this clear:

  • Inviting TSMC to Arizona
  • Supporting TSMC’s expansion in Japan
  • Cutting China off from EUV lithography machines
  • Restricting Chinese access to AI chips and advanced fabrication tools

All of these actions converge on one conclusion:

Securing TSMC = Maintaining U.S. global dominance.

If TSMC were to fall under Chinese influence,
America’s military, cyber capabilities, space systems, and AI leadership would decline overnight.

Why China Cannot Abandon Its Pursuit of Taiwan

From Beijing’s perspective, TSMC is not a company—it is the key to the future.

Advanced chips shape every strategic domain:

  • AI development
  • Military computation
  • Quantum research and codebreaking
  • Robotics and automation
  • Satellites and space communications
  • Smart-city surveillance systems

China can import oil.
It can import food.
But it cannot import TSMC.

This is why any Taiwan conflict would involve not just military operations,
but cyber warfare, psychological manipulation, and information control.

The Direct Shock Japan Would Face

Japan’s dependence on TSMC is profound.
If Taiwan is destabilized, Japan experiences immediate systemic disruption:

  • Semiconductor supply cutoff
  • Halt in automobile and industrial machine production
  • Communication network instability
  • Defense electronics maintenance failure
  • Nationwide inflation
  • Total supply chain fragmentation

For Japan, a Taiwan crisis is not a distant geopolitical event.
It is the collapse of daily life.

The True Nature of the Taiwan Crisis

It is not merely a territorial dispute.
It is a contest for the control of the world’s digital backbone.

In short:

Whoever protects TSMC controls the future.

Without understanding this core truth,
the Taiwan crisis—and its global implications—cannot be fully grasped.

Next time—another fragment of truth awaits us.
I will return to continue the tale.
